LearningStation Launches “I will LEARN today! Grant Program”
Charlotte, N.C.— April 1, 2005 LearningStation, the provider of custom web desktops for teaching and learning, announced the initiation of a program entitled “I will LEARN today!” According to Jim Kirchner, President and CEO, “The purpose of the program is to emphasize the importance of authentic engagement in learning, as well as the role of technology in supporting engaged learners”. LearningStation will work with other leading providers of education technology, as well as K12 policy and thought-leadership organizations, to focus attention on the importance of authentically engaging every student in learning. As part of this program, LearningStation will increase the opportunity for all schools to integrate innovative web-based solutions to support learning through a grant program providing LearningStation services. “We are committed to providing $500,000 in service grants to the K12 community in 2005 through this exciting program,” added Jim Kirchner. In addition to launching the “I will LEARN today!” program, LearningStation is also co-sponsoring a joint forum to be held on Monday afternoon at the ASCD conference. The event is a collaborative effort of three leading K12 technology organizations: the International Society of Technology in Education (ISTE), the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN), and the State Education Technology Directors Association (SETDA). The purpose of the joint forum is to bring curriculum and technology educators together with scientifically based learning.
LearningStation is engaged in promoting the advancement of learning through technology and learning-friendly public policy efforts through sponsorships and memberships in CoSN, ISTE, the Software Information Industry Association (SIIA), and the Education Industry Association (EIA).
LearningStation also announced the promotion of Mark Cosby to Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Mark joined the LearningStation team in 2004 as Vice President of Marketing. “We are very pleased to have the opportunity to expand Mark’s role at LearningStation and are confident that we are building a team that will play a significant role in impacting student achievement through the effective integration of technology in schools,” said Jim Kirchner. Mr. Kirchner also indicated that LearningStation will be expanding its sales and marketing team in order to meet the significant demand for web-based solutions in schools.
