netTrekker, The Trusted Search Engine for Schools, Joins LearningStation to enhance Sprint Empowered Education Desktop
Cincinnati, OH—-July 1, 2003 Cincinnati-based netTrekker, the trusted search engine for schools, announces a new strategic relationship with LearningStation of Charlotte, N.C. The two companies will market a combination of netTrekker’s award-winning academic search engine with the content provided by LearningStation, the nation’s leading full-service Application Service Provider (ASP) and content provider for Sprint’s innovative Empowered Education Desktop Initiative. LearningStation provides a comprehensive package of K-12 educational content to educators and students through their personalized, online, Web-based Education Desktops.
Through an agreement established in 2002, LearningStation and Sprint have teamed to combine LearningStation’s leading application service content with Sprint’s network expertise to provide high-quality educational content through Sprint’s network system to schools across the United States. Through their Empowered Education Desktop solution, Sprint delivers access to a wide variety of education applications and content software via the Internet at every computer within the schools using the LearningStation platform. netTrekker now adds a creative academic “search” component to this web-based solution by providing access to over 180,000 educator-selected online resources that are aligned to state standards and which enhance the K-12 curricula. Using netTrekker, educators and students can quickly and easily find relevant, reliable information every time they search the Internet.
“This new partnership allows us to combine our award-winning product with two of the leading companies in the educational technology market. Through this initiative, we will now be able to deliver the time-saving benefits of netTrekker to more educators and students, enhancing the teaching and learning process,” said Randy Wilhelm, CEO and President of Thinkronize, developers of netTrekker.
“netTrecker is an educationally sound search engine and we are proud to offer this robust product to schools across the nation. It enhances our offerings to the educational community,” said Jim Kirchner, president of LearningStation.
