Sprint Adds Atomic Learning Tutorials to Empowered Education(SM) Desktop for Schools
Sprint (NYSE: FON) announced today that it is adding Atomic Learning to the list of leading K-12 educational software companies leveraging the Sprint Empowered Education Desktop to deliver teaching and learning resources to schools across the nation. Atomic Learning provides Web-based training for dozens of software applications that students and teachers use everyday.
The Empowered Education Desktop(sm), powered by LearningStation, combines Sprint’s communications network with online delivery of a comprehensive listing of high-quality educational learning tools from a wide range of K-12 content providers. In addition, the Empowered Education Desktop provides the unique capability of tracking student application usage in order to support data-driven decision making at both the school and district level. This unique combination of capabilities enables schools to extend the learning experience beyond the classroom while also providing critical tools that ensure the appropriate applications are used to help improve student achievement.
Using a show-and-tell approach, Atomic Learning delivers over 9,000 short, to-the-point tutorials for more than 65 commonly used software applications. Atomic Learning’s just-in-time approach focuses on answering the common questions students and teachers have when learning popular software packages.
“Atomic Learning is thrilled to be part of Sprint’s Empowered Education Desktop,” said Chuck Amos, CEO, Atomic Learning. “Sprint is taking the lead on providing a rich variety of content and solutions through a single, coordinated online resource for teachers, administrators, students and parents that is targeted at improving student achievement. Atomic Learning is honored to be among the ‘best-of-breed’ solution providers in Sprint’s Empowered Education Alliance.”
“By adding Atomic Learning to the Empowered Education(sm) Desktop, Sprint continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing solutions that improve student achievement, increase family involvement and help schools maximize their technology investments,” said Mike Werth, director of education marketing for Sprint Business Solutions.
A significant benefit of Sprint’s Empowered Education(sm) Desktop system is that schools no longer have to maintain software content on the desktop computer in the classroom or on facilities-based servers, helping defer significant hardware, operating software, distribution, support and maintenance costs. This “virtual” environment makes classroom and learning software available to students and teachers on any computer with Internet access.
Atomic Learning is the newest partner to the Sprint Empowered Education(sm) Desktop that already includes:
- LearningStation, the provider of the Empowered Education(sm) Desktop, offers a suite of productivity and measurement tools designed to equip educators for today’s learning environment
- ePALS, a secure, filtered and monitored email solution for students and teachers that also features an instant language-translation tool
- netTrekker, an academic search engine that provides access to more than 180,000 high-quality, pre-screened and educationally relevant K-12 online resources
- ParentLink, a tool that provides parents with secure access to their child’s grades, attendance records, school announcements and more via the Internet
Sprint is proud to be a tier one sponsor of the National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) in New Orleans, LA, June 21-23, and will be showcasing a variety of new and emerging education technology solutions at booth 1500.
