The LearningStation “I will LEARN today” Grant Extends Web-Based Education Desktop Services To Arizona Schools

Charlotte, N.C.— March 14, 2005 LearningStation will launch a grant program providing qualifying school districts custom web-based Education DesktopSM services at deeply discounted prices during the 2005/2006 school year.  The grant program will be one part of LearningStation’s campaign entitled “I will LEARN today,” which encourages educators and schools to sharpen their focus on the importance of authentically engaging all students in learning.

LearningStation is providing a “sneak peek” of the grant program to Arizona educators, in part to ensure that those teachers and students that have benefited over the past four years from the $27.9 million education ASP contract initiated by the Arizona School Facilities Board can continue to benefit from the Education DesktopSM throughout the next school year.

According to Jim Kirchner, LearningStation President & CEO, “The success of LearningStation as a provider of custom web desktops for teaching and learning is due in large part to the significant opportunities we’ve been provided as a result of our service to Arizona schools.  This grant program enables LearningStation to give something back to the schools from whom we have learned so much about serving the needs of students and teachers.”

On-line grant applications will be available to schools on April 4, in conjunction with the official program announcement at the ASCD annual conference being held April 2-4, 2005 in Orlando, FL.  Grant applications may be accessed online at http://www.learningstation.com/grantapp. Schools will be asked to describe current or future innovative applications of the Education DesktopSM in authentically engaging students in learning.  LearningStation estimates that the “I will LEARN today” grant program will generate up to $1 Million in grants for LearningStation services.  The LearningStation Education DesktopSM delivers engaging tools and applications for enhanced teaching and authentic learning.  Public, private, and parochial schools in Arizona will be eligible to apply for the grant.
