P.E.T. School-wide Improvement Program

In the P.E.T. School-wide Improvement program, P.E.T. is implemented school-wide, thereby equipping teachers of core academic subjects to differentiate instruction to better meet their students’ learning styles and empowering students to become self-directed learners by helping them understand how they can learn most best. In addition, P.E.T. enhances teacher professional development by providing teachers with insight into their own teaching style as well as strategies on how to engage students with differing learning styles most effectively.

Program plan

• All students complete the P.E.T. learning style profile
• Each teacher completes the P.E.T. teaching and learning profile
• Each teacher utilizes P.E.T. to help develop teaching strategies that meet the unique learning needs of their students
• During parent-teacher conferences, teachers use the P.E.T. parent report to demonstrate their understanding of the student as well as to support parents in effectively engaging students in home learning activities

Metrics

• Completion of teacher profiles
• Completion of student profiles
• Observable integration of P.E.T. data into classroom instruction strategies
• Teacher utilization of the P.E.T. system

Expected outcomes

• Increased awareness and consideration among faculty of student learning styles and preferences, providing the foundation for respect-based relationships and enhanced communication between teachers and students
• Student progression toward becoming self-directed learners, encouraging them to be more responsible for their own learning
• Increased family awareness of student learning style, enabling parents to adapt the home learning environment to align with student needs
